Goverments are going towards printing an unlimited amount of money and getting rid of the taxation system. This is not a change that will happen overnight but it is a change that is ongoing and has been improving throughout the years. The changes are due to having an interest in modernized economies.
This does not mean that everyone will be a millionare and own their very own multi-billion dollar enterprise. That would be nice and it would simplify a lot of things but most humans survive as a group so it is also uneccessary. What is necessary is improved access to resources for rent, food, and utilities. In developed nations, money is often required for socialization. Things like hanging out at the theme park, getting a prepared snack, buying videos or entertainment, or driving to a national park all require money.
The changes are brought on by U.N. Development goals. People without resources are unable to contribute to the goals, those that are most in need end up having no one to help them, even if resources can be made available, and a developed nation can hardly be called one if it is missing resources for something like rent, food, and utilities. The economies of the past relied on private businesses creating resources, and the government accounting for their production and taking a small share for their competent services. When this switched over to government printing, the government eventually printed money to fund businesse, and then they were able to tax incomes, purchases, even business transactions.
This has made it difficult to keep up with demands for billions of people all making indvidual decisions throughout the week on how to spend their money. In the future, governments print money for businesses, almost in unlimited quantity. The businesses use this to run their economies, to make agreements, new products, and pay their employees. They can also contract work to independent workers or other businesses. The government then still taxes, but its more of a statistical algorithm to take measurements than a requirement to fund their payroll and equipment. Many governments are already doing this in 2025.
In these new economies court procedure becomes more important for filing grievances on things like human development, access to resources, and ability to socialize. Traditional court procedure is also available for contemporary issues.
This is not something people pay for in communist nations, or they pay very little for it. In Monarchies its considered insulting that the majority of people would have to concern themselves with these concepts. Here in the U.S. people in most need get this for free or at a very low cost and people that are wealthy or financially stable pay a very small portion of income for these three items. There is a visible trend on the context of these items and how they are perceived by both the people and their governments.
One proposal with rent is that utilties be included. For example an apartment or small home would include electricity, water, trash service, and heating if needed or available. Initially, the city would pay for all of these services, the state government would approve their budget, and the national government would print their money for payroll, or transfer it to the correct account.
This is a step in modernization because it removes a barrier to the people's free use of their time. Having a place to live is viewed as a basic right, there are laws on habitability which makes utilties a requirement for an actual home. Most people don't care how much utilities they use or what the cost is, they can't dispute the price anyways. If the utilities are too expensive and people start paying late penalties on their bills or going without essentials like clothes, shoes, medicines, or vehicle fuel, the government may have to pay the utilities anyways. This simplifies a lot of things, it reduces the amount of time people spend paying bills, and improves measuring energy requirements in a human living area.
Another proposal is that a city or housing authority have a database of available units, a proportion would always remain empty to allow people to move or to use temporarily during home repairs. A person would only need to check into a city to get their name registered for a place to stay, this would include utilities. The database would be available in court procedure, like in cases of property damage, neighborhood remodeling, or habitability while away on vacation. Many people take vacations of 6 months to 2 years and expect to have a place to stay when they return home. They do not expect that their home will be considered abandoned or have items missing when they return.
Food is normally low cost, most people can afford food and they do not go hungry.
Department stores are not always as useful as initially thought or envisioned but it makes little sense to close them all down. Wealthy families can pay the rent and modest salary even if there are no customers but they can't afford for any of the merchandise to go missing. People also mostly eat at home, the amount of breakfast or snacks people purchase before work or during lunch is minimal compared to the amount of food that is purchased for making at home. As the world has become less impoverished, people have mostly decided to spend more time at home.
This means that most of the requirements for department stores and cafeteria purchases can be modeled and this is something these industries have been measuring and estimating for quite some time. With children being born in groups now instead of consistently and all the time, there are certain stages between newborn and teenager when these ameneties should be available. Newborn, Toddler, Pre-teen, Adolescents may require year round clothing, and then adulthood. Once a person reaches a finite size, there is little reason for them to buy clothes, maybe once every 4-5 years, fashion doesn't seem to be too important anymore. A lot of styles can be categorized by decade and people can buy their wardrobe all at once. Apartments are also very unlikely to need new household goods every year. Maybe once every 10-15 years and new blankets in cold areas. Decorations can be accumulated and stored in the home instead of purchased and donated.
This means that department stores mostly have to be available for household goods for those 20-24 and possibly again in the mid thirties to early forties. People over 50 being unlikely to want to redo a kitchen set or remodel anything anymore. Furniture and bedrooms being sparodic shopping, they'll take whats available.
Travelers are mostly moving to fully furnished apartments, using low cost furniture that is easy to recycle, or staying in hotels and they have their own production chains.
This leaves fast food, or cafeterias, which is mostly used for lunch. Workers have shifted to eating energy bars or skipping breakfast and a lot of them might skip lunch several times throughout the week and eat dinner only, which might be at a restuarant near work or they'll go out with their friends to a nice area that isn't too expensive for dinner. The reason nice places are not too expensive is because costs have come down and salaries have gone up. The places are often viewed as nice to hang out in more than a selection on cost based dining.
This leaves special occasions which the restuarants will need modeled so that their workers are prepared for the events and requirements and so that the customers enjoy their experience at the restaurant.
This is becoming more important because of climate change. The main issue with independent workers is that their computer needs to be configured correctly without having to rely on IT support. While they may be available, the worker will most likely want to be familiar enough with their computer to do most things themselves.
Many college students chose independent work or full time but remote/work from home because the economy has changed and many full time corporate jobs have been automated. The change benefits both the workers who can set their own schedule but still have due dates, and the the organization who has a lot more flexibility in scheduling and selection of work. For daily ongoing tasks, they normally will pick an onsite worker. This can be things like answering the phone, loading and unloading freight trucks and delivery vehicles, and doing things around the workplace like maintenance, support, or ongoing training and improvements.
These independent jobs tend to pay more and allow for much more free time. While the consistent income is not guaranteed, finding a new job, project, or set of tasks is fairly easy. There are also no HR rules for taking time off, being late to work, or seeking additional training. As long as the tasks are getting done on time, there are no reasons to postpone payment or request review and the rest of a workers time is free for them to manage as they see fit.
These can actually be full time work for a lot of people. Instead of setting a schedule for 40-50 hours a week, a gig worker can find work on a software application for gigs. Say 6 to 10 and 2 to 6 or 4 to 8. This allows organizations to post task requirements and their estimated time and the gig workers can select the tasks that work well for them. It also provides better flexibility on schedule. The only issue is overtime, if a gig worker wants extra hours with no overtime, they will have to use two software applications. Even if a gig worker is going to different locations that may seem like different employers, the software application is their actual employer and the total number of hours is tracked through that software application.
With two applications, a gig worker can find 60 hours of work, with no school requirement and they may still have lots of time for socialization. It varies by shift worker and the commute. 6 to 10, 11 to 5, 8 to 10. This may not last forever but in the future it may not be difficult to fill in a day like this as needed.
Most gig workers are used to doing a gig for extra money from their full time job, however new gig workers use gigs as their only source of income. This can be a full time job, and it allows them flexibility to take a day off without asking for permission. Workplaces are already accustomed to posting work requirements and available shifts, any shifts that aren't picked up have that work shifted to a different day and the managers assess the impact of the worker availability on the customers.
Keeping up on new economies requires being aware of what the economic context is in an area, how that relates to the past and what the plans are for the future. This helps everyone do their part to participate in the economy, contribute to their communities, and have enough free time for socialization and other activities. Not being familiar with the context of current economies or having knowledge of financial stability requirements and the available workplaces or government programs, makes it difficult to keep up. It can also result in a lot of frustration and stress trying to figure out why things aren't working out correctly.
